Which Leather Gloves to choose ?
Motorbike Leather gloves come in different versions Short , Long , Summer, Winter . Some gloves are used as fashion where protection is not main concern. Some Gloves have protective armours on knuckle , fingers and palm. Summer gloves are single layered leather hide with a view to provide ventilation and keep hands dry. It may or may not have armours. Winter gloves are multilayered. Outer leather, thermal materials, water poof membrane and polyester lining. This makes glove bit heavier and padded. British customers tend to buy more of Winter version gloves. There are different leathers used i.e goat, cowhide and kangroo leather. Cowhide leather is mostly used as it is durable and cost effective. Kangroo leather is used on race tracks. Softness and thickness of leather are most important. Softer leather keeps hand comfortable when pressing clutch and moving fingers. Knuckle armour has to be abrasion resistant as it bears impact. So it is made with carbon fibre or kevlar aramid fibres. So it does not break easily and provide protection for some time when crash happens. Impact areas of the gloves must be double stitched .
